palm tree concept

I wanted to use this concept in an area that is in need of it, i came to decide my own country or the same demographic as the setting for this vertical farm idea, the palm tree was the first thing that came into to my mind, and the area is ideal to test out indoor farming.

as for the design, the palm tree's trunk grows in clusters creating these different textures and spaces, its the most durable plant  in the warm climate, and would represent the culture,  i mostly like the idea of these organic piling shapes on a structure.

in conclusion im not going to bore you with the palm trees history in the area, but i think i have to be boulder in my sketchese, i need to reflect the toughness of the shapes and angles.

these are just rough ideas just to get things flowing

Where we are and where we need to be

Vertical farm in South Korea

Vertical farms are basically buildings with the intention of indoor controlled farming, heres an example of an existing vertical farm in South Korea. What I like about it is that for example every person that needs to step into the building has to go through and "air shower" room to keep germs and bacteria from entering the controlled setting.

One section of the building (young Lettuce)

The main issue vertical farms face is lighting, and the amount of electricity needed for indoor lighting.

Another section (full grown Lettuce)

A simple graph which shows electricity and oxygen exchange, as well as importation and exportation.

A simple floor plan of the building

Energy statistics of the building

The Buildings budget

This is an interesting website that I got this information from, it has current live vertical farms that I will regularly check for updates and other information.

Principles of Intelligent Urbanism

Is a theory of urban planning that compromise of ten rules or guides to make city plans and urban designs. I will follow these guides in the creation of my project. I will have a shorter summary available before the end of this week.
